JHANDA SAHIB! Mahant Shri Devendra Das was nominated, when Indresh Charan Das had passed-away in 2001. Late Laxman Das and Late Indradesh Charan Das, considered as the eminent great persons, who laid the foundation of nucleus of present modern city at Dehra Dun. The Doon has always been a shelter for ascetics and exiles. The refugees, from various parts of the country and settled here at ‘Jhanda Sahib’. The most important of from all, in modern times, are Laxman Das and Mahant Indresh Das. The impact of two eminent great persons have ever-lasting mark, in fields of modern education, medicine , engineering and technical education for our children, for common people, for our cause, in Doon Valley and in adjoining areas. But; the area, around this historical place, has declined, also, due to ‘haphazard developments’,.... converted to a slum, around this, 'SACRED ABODE' of Ram Rai. We are and must be ashamed, also, at its present conditions! Please 'DO SOMETHING'; IMMEDIATELY!

Based on 'Dehradun Gazzeetteer'!Sri Guru Ram Rai ji Maharaj;he passed-away in 1687, at Kandlee, near the bank of the river, close-by Pondha, a few km away from present Premnagar. His body was brought-back, ‘his remains to his abode’, for last rites at Khurbura. “On hearing of Ram Rai’s death, Aurangzeb sent his representative with his condolence message. The ‘Darbar’ or Court was, ordered by Aurangzeb, to build in memory of Ram Rai, after latter passed-away.” He ordered for building, as the present mausoleum to the memory of Ram Rai, based on architecture of Jehangir’s tomb at Lahore. On top of ‘Southern Gate’, at mausoleum, is embedded on a large marble of slab, appreciating the teachings, by sixty six Verses, written in Persian.It is a replica of Jehangir’s tomb at Lahore, was made in Doon Valley. It is a marvel of Mughal architecture.
